Tokyo Day 1 & 2

sunny 28 °C

Tokyo Day 1 - We're here... we made it... Words can not describe how horribly jet lagged we were after our flight! Korean Air was an excellent carrier however and we were treated very well. Excellent entertainment (consoles that had databases of movies, music and games... yep a super nintendo built into the seat!!). Irregardless, 12 hours on a plane is WAY TOO LONG! I slept a few short hours... Stacey- 0 lol. From Narita Airport we jumped on the subway for the an hour or so long train ride (1 transfer). The subway was really easy to use which was a huge relief considering how brain dead and tired we were (by the time we had reached our hotel we were up for 24 hours). We got to our hotel at 6:00pm local time (3am your time) showered, and hit the hay. Hotel is very small but clean and comfy. The staff is super friendly and all speak excellent english. I'll take some pics of this place tomorrow.

Day 2 - Woke at about 5am lol (trying to get back to normal)... had breakfast and coffee at hotel, did our laundry and then hit the town. First we hit up Imperial Gardens which is in the centre of Tokyo.

Almost perfect weather (28 C)... a lil sweaty lol... but all in all not bad... you guys got snow yet? Beautiful immaculate gardens. Lots closed off to the public but we got to see a far bit. Many more gardens and temples to come later in Japan.

Some big ol' carp...

We finished up at the gardens and then hit the pavement. All I can say is Tokyo is just fascinating! I mean everything about it is so unique. And the people are great. No one yelling (like China lol), very reserved but so friendly and helpful if you ask. Such a flood to the senses here. But definitely expensive. We looked at prices at everything from guitars to cameras to beer to McDonalds and not a single thing is cheaper than North America (some stuff is the same price however).

Oh... how convenient that we stumbled into Musictown lol. But really we did. I never knew it existed. Wasn't in my Lonely Planet Guide, but found it on a map today and it was right on our path to Akihabara (ah-ki-ha-bear-ha) or "Electric Town". No deals... but cool gear nonetheless. Akihabara... what a trip. I mean TOTAL Japanese. Weird anime shit, girls dressed like maids, six storey arcades and massive electronics stores that sell EVERYTHING related to electronics/parts.

A lot to take in. Had some good food too.

(Stacey hates this pic of course - looks like she's puking lol) Food was excellent though. We've been studying our Japanese too. Getting not too bad at it. Old habits make you want to speak Chinese though lol.

I'll leave you with a funny story... Toilet at McDonalds...

Stacey went in there and seen the control panel on the side and started to fiddle with it. Apparently it plays music, makes the sound of the toilet flushing and has a built in water cannon to blast your a-hole lol. Only the Japanese could be so inventive.

Sayoonara!
